Street lights are a common feature of our everyday environment that many of us take for granted, but their contribution to increasing carbon emissions should never be underestimated.
Traditional street lighting uses an estimated 2% of all electricity in the UK, and is responsible for 1,218,590 tonnes of carbon dioxide being emitted into the atmosphere every year. Yet it is estimated that 30-50% of the energy used by conventional street lights does not end up as useful light.
The Barracuda street light can make a major contribution not only in reducing the operating costs but also in reducing carbon emissions compared to conventional sources.
Our trials have shown that the bright white light emitted by the LEDs makes it easier for pedestrians and vehicles to identify one another, which could help to reduce crime levels.
This new LED high power street lantern has evolved from the development of high powered LEDs; material technology and advanced leds patented reflector design.
Fully patented technology and registered design.
